Research: Music Magazines
Through these images of existing music magazines i can make the assumption that there is specific music magazines tailored to deferent music styles and genres for example The Hammer which is especially darker rock such as heavy metal, or mixmag which highlights dance and hip hop music. there is also music magazines tailored to all sorts of music in which they feature news and gossip of all different types of music all in one.
My artists music would most likely be advertised and featured in a music magazine such as Q as this magazine covers a wide range of genres and feature sup and coming artists as well as already popular artists.
in order to give me more of an insight into what must feature in a music magazine cover i have studied 6 different music magazine covers.
the two below images are examples of two of the music magazine adverts that i have looked at. they are both from very different music genres and styles of adverts this first one being linked heavily to the artist himself and the second one featuring more image and colour.
Research: practice with photoshop
below are some of the various experiments that i have done with photoshop in order to enhance my skills and abilities with photoshop in order to create a music magazine ad and digipack for the album that i have chosen.
at this stage i have inserted a picture of a random artist for use as the background in this case i have used an image of taylor swift.
i also use the colour swab tool in order to match the colour of the text with the actors lipstick shade that she is wearing in the background.
Research: Existing Music Magazine Advertisement For Lewis Watson
I have decided to do some research into various music magazine articles and adverts that currently exist for my artist Lewis Watson and therefore have found some examples of this.
This his the only online article that i could find in relation to my chosen artist on www.bilboard.com in relation to the artist which i have chosen to use 'The Morning'.

These are the magazine ads and promotional posters that i have found when researching adverts for my chosen artist in relation to his music and tour/gig dates for which he will be performing and that you can got to see him live.

| This is a promotional poster that i have found throughout my research which highlights certain tour or gig dates ins his the artist will be performing as well as further information the dates and how to purchase tickets and get involved. the colours and images used are different form other ads in that it is very dark and dull colours and the image used amongst the background. |

| This is again another promotional poster which highlights certain dates and locations in regards to performances/tours of the artist Lewis Watson, however the colours and images used amongst these ones are a lot more full of colour that the one i previously found in that it contains a very similar font but features very less use of dull and dark colours.
Throughout the research that i have done in relation to magazine adverts for Lewis Watson i have found that it was very difficult to find many different magazine ads or articles simply based on the size and fan base of Lewis Watson who is however on the rise in terms of the size of his fan base is not quite at the point at this moment where he is very heavily based among magazine and ads for music companies.
Planning: Magazine Advertisement final ideas for my music magazine advertisement i will take forward a number of common conventions when creating the advertisement for the album for example the cover will feature a picture of my actor in the foreground of the page it is likely to be done on the magazine Q or maybe even acoustic magazines, it will also feature various information such as the album title, the artist name as well as gig/tour dates for when people can come and see the artist as well as different quotes and ratings for the artist and album. The magazine advert is also likely to feature a barcode specific to the magazine as well as promotions for the album and when it will be released. it will also likely feature different information such as interviews and pieces with other artist similar to my artists well as different ratings and quotes.   |
these are some of the music magazine designs which i have created featuring the common conventions of music magazines advertisemnets and these could be possible designs that i would take forward in the creation of my music magazine advertisement.
this is the design that i have produced for the magazine Acoustic with brandon featuring as my main artist as well as the barcode and features of the magazine with albums/songs and reviews.

Creating the Music Magazine ad:
When creating the Music magazine advertisement i decided to stray away from my practice designs as my designs were magazine front covers where as i needed to produce an advertisement for the magazine. However i still stuck quite closely with the designs and image styles used.
This is the layer at the back which i had to drop the opacity of in order for the text that i will add to be visible on the ad.
This is then the image on top of the dropped opacity image in which i have cut so the opacity layer comes through so that it is not all on lower opacity only the part in which the text will feature.
This is then the images in which show me blurring out the edge of the tree so that i fits nice and smoothly with the layer at the back in which the opacity has ben lowered.
This is then the image in which it shows me trialling text sizes, types and colours as well as having inserted a rounded rectangle then applying a colour and the testing the opacity.
This is then me finalising the text style, colour and size for the artist name and the alum title as well as the text featured on the music ad.
This is then the finalisation of the rounded rectangle as well as adding text and information such as the artists website and the hit singles.
CD Digipack Final:
This is the final piece for my music magazine ad and what i have created ad what i will take forward as my final piece, i am very happy with how this piece has turned out for the creation of the music video as the image used is very similar to that of the CD digipack and the locations fro the video itself and i feel that it will be very useful and not to difficult to evaluate as it has a set professional look to it.
