Me As A Consumer Of Music

This essay will include my views on music, how and when I like to listen to music as well as my music preferences. As well as how I consume or purchase music either on the radio or through streaming and purchases.

The types of music which I enjoy to listen to are popular pop songs as well as genres that are up beat typically used for parties and modern dancing for example in nightclubs. I am also interested in grime from time to time as I usually listen to a wide range of different songs with grime becoming more popular amongst all ages as well as being played around at all types of festivals and events a key part in the upraise of grime would have to be stormzy with his songs being huge grime hits. The artists that I enjoy listening to the most at this current time are Drake and other popular pop artists such as Justin Bieber with their songs becoming extremely popular amongst people of my age.

I like these chosen artists because of the music that they produce and the creativity and their own style that they implement into their music to make it a hit and reach out to me as a consumer of their music.

Throughout the time of me growing up music played a large role for me with listening to it independently or it being used at parties and events in order to create an atmosphere a main area that influenced me was television and social media with new songs and styles being thrown about daily. Another area that played a large role in influencing me is my friendship group with friends introducing others to new music all of the time.

There is various different styles and genres of music that I cannot bare to listen to these include heavy metal music this is often listened to by people of a gothic nature and I am not at all into that lifestyle therefore this is an area in which I strongly dislike. Another area of music in which I dislike is classical music such as Mozart and the use of the piano I dislike this as I have no interest in this type of music what so ever.

I listen to music a lot of the time often when I am at home especially when I am doing school work and revising as it helps me to concentrate and focus on the task in which I am completing. The time in which I most often listen to music is after school and in the evenings also during parties is also a prime time in which I listen to a lot of music of all different styles.

I often listen to the radio when I am traveling by car of in some form of common transport other than that I don’t listen t the radio. I listen to music primarily on my phone using headphones or by plugging it into a speaker.

When it comes to consuming music I stream using spotify rather than buying any albums or purchasing cd’s with streaming music becoming more and more popular putting cd’s out of fashion. However the only cd that I have bought is ‘now that’s what I call…’ which is one of the most popular cd’s with their recent Now 92 being the top sold cd in recent time.
