Research : My Favourite Music Video : Textual Analysis

Context:
"Lean On" is a song recorded by electronic music group Major Lazer and French producer DJ Snake,"Lean On" was released through Mad Decent independently as the lead single from the album on March 2, 2015. 

It is a dance and electronic song being also described as a house ballad that  was taken from the former's third studio album, Peace Is The Mission.

The music video for "Lean On" was directed by Tim Erem and shot at ND Studios, Karjat and Kaul Heritage City, Vasai in Maharashtra, India 

Content:

The clip begins with what appears to be the roof of a temple with it slowly zooming out and panning down to a long shot of the inside of the temple where there is a woman dressed in dark colors with a bright flowery head piece is sitting on what appears to be a temple bed in a strange position the camera then zooms in closer. It then switches to a mid shot of the same woman in gym wear and also what appears to be religious jewelry standing in the garden of a temple. It then cuts to the same woman in a different room where she appears to be with dancers who are performing Bollywood dance moves with the main singer. It then cuts to another shot of less dancers performing a very similar dance routine it then alternates between the shot of the woman on the bed and back to the dancers performing more Bollywood dance routines. It then cuts to the woman performing moves that correlate to the lyrics within the video such as firing a gun there is then several different shots of the woman that are montaged together with various shots such as crabbing and long shots of the woman. It then cuts to 3 males wearing religious and self expressive clothing who are also performing different Bollywood dance moves.There is then more montage editing with the cuts going back and forth between the males and the lead singer dancing.

We then see a high angled mid shot of the lead singer and one of the males in a religious/ Indian styled bath which appears to have red flower pettels floating around inside of it with the Bollywood dancers still performing there routines within the background. It then cuts to the males and Bollywood dancers performing dance moves in a different room of the temple, there is then more montage editing of the lead singer and Bollywood dancers performing in the same shots as mentioned previous such as the garden and temple rooms. there is then another long shot of a different male in a gold coat surrounded by the Bollywood dancer in a large gold temple room with various candles and rugs. there is then more shots of the 3 males wearing what i would call religious/ Indian style clothing performing similar Bollywood dance moves in high angle shot/ mid shots. we can then see more low angled shots of the lead female singer in her gym clothing.

We can then see a different shot of the whole group featuring the 3 males and the lead singer wearing very urban clothing dancing withing a bus, there is then the 3 males leaning up against a door way making model poses towards the camera in a close up shot. It then cuts to the 3 males hanging out of the same bus which has bright paint all over it creating Indian/henna designs which are covering the bus with there also being tinsel and decorations also covering it. it then cuts to a long shot of a bunch of people walking down a dusty road,there is then a shot of the Bollywood dances lined up with different religious style clothing such as the beige robe and black crop tops. It then cuts to more shots of the males in the bus and also shots of the bus driving down the dusty road with the Bollywood dancers on the roof dancing and more shots of the group inside the bus dancing. there is then various mid shots and close ups of the lead singer in a different area of the temple garden performing various Bollywood dance routines. there is then more long shots of the Bollywood dancers and the lead singer on the bus roof dancing, there is also then more montage editing of shots similar to previous of the lead singer dancing in different location with the Bollywood backup dancers.

There is then a shot of the whole group that appear to be dancing on the moving bus there is then more montage editing of the lead singer with the Bollywood dancers, then there is a high angled long shot of the lead singer in the dark colours and head piece outside of the temple in the dark with the 3 males behind the back u dancers on white horses. It then cuts back into a temple room with the 3 males and the lead singer however without the Bollywood dancers. It then cuts to mid shots of different angles of the shot outside and on the bed. It then finishes with it panning back up onto the roof of the temple again.
